Summer is almost over

I’m still doing Couch to 5k, although this weekend has been a bit slower than planned thanks to a horrid head cold. I spent one day getting plenty of rest and a nice three mile walk, and the next I got too fidgety so got on with plenty of housework!

As the summer draws to a close, the children return to school, I start a new job and (hopefully!) go on holiday. It feels like a strange, never ending summer this year, and I think my new job starting as the children go back to school ties in nicely. I won’t be missing them so much that way, and I know they’re ready to go back. It’s been special to spend so much time with them this year and to really develop our relationship.

I’ve not mentioned work much on this blog as it’s not been a joy of mine over the last few months. But I’m moving on to a new challenge in September and really looking forward to stretching myself again, learning about a new type of charity and developing new skills. I hope to share more about my adventures in work in time.

This year has been different and difficult for so many people, and it’s no different here. I’ve been reflecting on the year so far, and realised I’m still working myself out, but in a less harmful way this year! I’ve managed almost five months without counselling (although I’m sure the summer and increased vitamin D has helped with that too!), and I’ve tried to see the positive even in the down days.

I’ve had some weird dreams and thoughts recently about the future, about decisions I’ve made, but I know that I trust God with whatever is next. I also know that this is easier to say now I have a new job to look forward to..! But, however hard I’ve found my job and times during the summer, I have started new habits, started to value myself a little more, and spent more time in the Bible than I have previously (particularly as tuning in to Church/worship is actually much harder when you’re not in the physical building each week!).

I am determined to get going again with Couch to 5k when this cold has gone, it may not be until after my upcoming holiday, but I will do it and I’m looking forward to updating with more news soon, but for now I’ve managed up to the end of week 4, which involves running for 16 minutes in total (not all in one go just yet!)!
